There are two main types of media wall fireplaces: electric and gas. The difference between these types lies in the heating mechanisms within the fireplaces.
Electric media walls use an electric fireplace. Electric fireplaces generate heat by using electrical resistance, and are made with in-built electrical heating elements.
Gas media walls, meanwhile, contain a gas fireplace. Gas fireplaces generate heat by burning either natural gas or propane. So, they use gas as their fuel source.
The other difference between electric and gas media walls is the fact that electric fireplaces don’t require a chimney or ventilation. However, gas fireplaces need both ventilation (either in the form of a chimney or a direct vent system) and a gas supply line.
So, while electric fireplaces only need access to a power outlet to be installed, gas fireplaces have a few additional requirements.
